Families stay in private cottages with kitchenettes or full kitchens. These were the exact words our kids used to describe our time on the ranch. Coming over from the UK to a Dude ranch was a real step into the unknown for us. But from the moment we arrived we enjoyed a warm welcome and settled in almost right away. The accommodation is simple, cosy and clean, but frankly, we spent so little time in our cabin to really notice. This holiday was a true adventure. You're kept pretty busy with all the activities, starting with the breakfast bell at 8am.
Those Breakfasts were well worth getting up for with Huevos Rancheros a particular highlight one day. As a Brit I've rarely handled a gun, but I found these sessions the most fun I've had in a long time, with rifle, shotgun and musket shooting building up to shooting some clays later in the week.
The trail riding was really restful through the forest and riverbank near the ranch. In the arena you can really sharpen up your horse handling skills, and even get a bit competitive around the obstacle courses if you want. The ranch is able to cater for pretty much all levels of riding ability, and will make sure you get the most out of your stay.
After lunch its normally rafting, with just one day off midweek. Again, I've never rafted, and whether it was simply admiring the scenery and the wildlife from the boat when gliding along, jumping in the river for a swim between rapids or shooting through the rapid sections, this was the highlight for my eldest child. She chose to kayak the river and the sense of achievement and independence she got from it was enormous, a real growth experience for her. Food in the evenings is predominantly low n slow BBQ fare. Honestly, I couldnt pick a favourite meal because each evening seemed to surpass the last.
Heidi is a wizard with a smoker, and washed down with a bottle of beer or a glass of wine, each meal was superb. If pushed I might vote for the mexican feast on the final evening, but the spare ribs and the tri tip beef pushed it pretty close. I stayed here one night while passing through the area. I have to say this Best Western did not live up to my expectations of the chain. My room was dark, with outdated, dingy furniture. Maybe this was an attempt to make the place feel like the old west, but it just felt old. The lighting in the room was poor. The wifi was really, really slow. In the bathroom, the water pressure was awful.
I know there is still a drought, but with halfway decent pressure you can take a shorter shower. They also did not provide any lotion; most BW hotels include a small bottle of hand lotion as part of the amenities. The breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast. There wasn't much variety, but it was enough to get the day started. The breakfast room appears small, but there is more seating in the back, which helped. This place was fine for just one night, but I'm glad I didn't stay any longer.

We only stay at a Best Western when traveling because they offer nice rooms and great pet areas for our dogs at a reasonable price. Also we like the breakfast, it is important to us to get a nice cup of coffee and a bite to eat before he have to head out. This hotel was by far the best value for the money during our entire trip.
A little hard to find but well worth the hunt. Excellent beds, slept all night with no interruptions. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good nights sleep and excellent value. Comfortable and accommodating to both humans and pets, this motel earns a repeat visit for value and accommodation.
Surprisingly, a walk through old residencial Yreka uncovered many historic homes dated around or before. This was my first visit visit to the Best Western Miners Inn. I was very pleased with the experience entering the Lobby. Very friendly reception by Steven, even at the late late hour of midnight when i checked in.
Marble Mountain Ranch (Somes Bar, CA) Review & Ratings | Family Vacation Critic
The room was surprisingly comfortable, more than I expected. The bed very comfortable, slept well. I highly recommend the Miners inn. Wonderful place to stay and great carvings and floral arrangements, close to High School for football and volleyball games. Close to all sorts of food items. Nice and warm. Would recommend to all travelers. Brandis G, General Manager at Best Western Miner's Inn, responded to this review We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, we all look forward to your next stay!

Best Westerns are known for being, generally, pet-friendly; so, we booked a room at the last minute with the Miner's Inn in Yreka, CA. We were not disappointed; clean rooms, very well themed reception area, and an above average check in experience. Check out was perfect!

Will definitely consider this hotel as a possibility on our next road trip to CA! Very comfortable room, nice selection of toiletries provided, spacious bathroom facilities with sinks both outside the bathroom and inside. The only thing missing was a small freezer in the apt-size refer; we weren't able to refreeze our travel ice packs.
Oh well The breakfast made up for it! Not knowing where to eat we were guided by the front desk person to a fantastic Italian restaurant- Strings. Kyle also accommodated our request for a ground floor rom and gave us an upgrade at no cost. The room was wonderfully big and comfortable. While we were only in Yreka for one night, it was a most pleasant interlude on a great two week holiday in California. I found this hotel clean ,friendly and enjoyable.
The room was very spacious for a family. Had amenities and very good Wi-Fi. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choice including hot and cold items such as fresh waffles, fruit etc. Great place to stop on a road trip. Pool was also refreshing on a hot day! This was a very nice place to stay. The service was fast and friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable and we appreciated having the complimentary breakfast.
We would stay here again without hesitation.
